The National Independent Tax Preparers Association, NITPA is the only Tax Preparer Association lobbying to defend the industry, image and rights of independent tax office owners throughout the country.
NITPA is a non-profit organization that originated to defend the industry from a host of proposed Senate Bills written by special interest groups. The same special interest who seek to destroy the tax industry and the image of private business owners across the U.S. with negative propaganda crusades and their own hand written legislation. Join NITPA and its efforts to prevent special interest from controlling the regulations and industry click here now. These liberal attacks are an attempt to allow them the ability to regulation and controll the industry. In many cases they're attempting to pass state & national legislation that allows them to use licensing fees (paid by independent tax office owners) to expand their own tax operations. Additionally they're seeking to controll the entire industry while providing themselves special exemptions from the rules they'd write and the fees they want private businesses to pay. NITPA defeated the most recent special interest attempt and prevented the bill's passage in one of the largest political upsets as noted in the April 13, 2009 edition of Business Week. These special interest groups operate like Acorn within the VITA/Tax Program to extort, create & exploit new federal grant programs.
They produce false and misleading materials to promote their personal agendas. Agendas that include writing their own statewide legislation which give them full control and complete immunity from the same rules and fees they're looking to impose on the Independent Tax Preparers. These Acorn oriented special interest groups are attempting to exploit federal grant programs to build new and expanded VITA/Gov. Funded Free Tax Sites throughout the country. Thus placing the cost of refund distribution on the shoulders of the American tax payers . The National Independent Tax Preparers Association needs your continued attention, support and membership in order to defend the industry. The expanded Federal Grant programs are increasing and attracting an overwhelming interest from Special Interest non-profit groups across the country. In addition to seeking new unlimited grant programs these same groups are also lobbying state and federal legislative members to pass new laws which favor the non-profit/special interest groups and provide them extreme competitive opportunities to gain market-share growth at the expense of current Independent Tax Preparation offices.
Last year in Alabama one group nearly passed new legislation that would have provided these new special interest groups not only an opportunity to create a state board whereby all members would have been fully exempt and immune and free f paying fees and following the same new testing requirements. In addition this state law would have allowed the non-profit special interest group (Impact Alabama) the ability to use portions of the licensing fees paid by the Independent Tax Preparers to the state to benefit their own Government funded VITA Tax Office growth plans. Essentially, the independent business owners would have been paying to put themselves out of business if NITPA would not have lobbied and defeated the bill in Alabama.

Never before, in the history of the tax preparation industry, has there been so much interest and growth from non-profit special interest groups wanting to expand & open new VITA/Free Government funded tax offices.
Especially now since Acorn, the nation's largest VITA/Government funded special interest group is no longer allowed to receive millions from the IRS/VITA Grant Program. As the market-share grows for tax payer/grant funded VITA Tax Sites, fewer and fewer returns will be completed in the private business industry and tax payers will be forced to burden the additional cost of distributing the hundreds of billions in Earned Income Tax Credits. These newly expanded credits and the opportunity to gain unlimited amounts of new grant funds derived from modifications made with the Omnibus Act in Feb. 2009 have created a whole new breed of interest from Acorn related non-profit groups throughout the country. These groups are producing false and misleading materials to promote their personal agendas.

Impact Alabama wants to charge Tax Offices Fees so they can get Grant Funding.
Stephen wrote a letter to House and Senate members and many tax offices claiming that NITPA was not telling the truth about the fees and that he wasn't wanting to use the fees that Tax Offices were going to pay as money for his VITA sites to get additional Grant funding. Click the link above and read the fourth item down under summary. Mr. Black, your the director for Ethics and Social Responsibility for U.A. how can you continue to mislead people with these false accusations?

Stephen Blacks first Version he wrote in Alabama and got passed in the Senate. SB 201
Please note it was so biased we had to request a public hearing and then plead with them to make some honorable adjustments. Through a great deal of negotiations they did agree to limit fees however they're still wanting the board to be controlled by people who would all be exempt from the rules they'd be writing and enforcing. Additionally we were able to limit some of the money they'd be able to use for EITC and VITA outreach marketing. The U.S. spends millions promoting the EITC program already.

The National Association Independent Tax Preparers is highly in agreement with the need for the advancement of nationally standardized testing and appropriate continued education. No one is aware of the understandings as to how SB 201's proposal would work and why such drastic board modifications and board oversights were created when there are already (11) federal oversight committees currently regulating the Tax Preparer Industry. NITPA Responds to false AllegationsImpact Alabama, the special interest group who inaccurately attacked the Tax Preparer. Part of their Grant Motivated attempts include them parading a falsified investigative report and making numerous other fraudulent press releases. NITPA repsonded to one of their earlier published attacks with the following written response. This Senate Bill 201 Law would allow them to oversee the entire industry and impose additional sanctions, regulations and licensing fees which financially benefit Impact Alabama the group who wrote the legislation. An additional section of the bill allows them to facilitate control of the licensing monies and write legislation which they would be entirely exempt from having to honor. No board, act or legislation in Alabama or any other state has that type of ability, control and potential personal financial gain.
